Welcome to Kita Billabong! Billabong 02 e.V. was founded in 2002 as a not-for-profit parent-initiative daycare center. Our kita is modeled after the long tradition of the Berlin children’s groups from the 1970s, which were the first parent-initiative kindergartens in Germany. The intention of these kitas is to closely link families with the kindergarten where the children attend. The original founding families of the kita spoke both German and English in the home; this was mirrored in the pedagogical concept of the kita as well.
Our 150-meter kita located in Prenzlauer Berg offers a comfortable space for 21 children between the ages of 2 and 6. Located on the ground floor of a renovated old building and includes, the kita is made up of a:
- a dining room
- an open kitchen with a large counter that separates from the eating area
- a large playroom with a playhouse
- a smaller playroom
- a bathroom
- a spacious cloakroom area
We also have the possibility of using our communal inner courtyard. There is a sandpit, several flowerbeds and an open space for play.
